I just got my red out kit from www.importequipment.com [importequipment.com] and I'm a little confused. The kit includes 2 pieces of clear red vinyl and a squeege.
I was just wondering if there's any advice you guys can give me as to how you went about doing this... like did you start with the backup light side first, did you take out the light, when did you cut out the part for the backup light? How would it look if I didn't cut it out? THNX for the help guys... smile

i got mine from andy (blue bat), it just covers the orange part of the light, dipped it in soapy water and put it on... took 10 mins... didnt have to cut out anything and just slid the peice in place.

why didn't you just buy some Tester red paint and paint it?? In the "Installs" page on this site there's a page that show you how to do it and where to get the paint. i'm planning on doing that this summer.

because the headlight painting is MUCH more difficult...not everyone wants to uninstall their whole headlight assembly (both of them), bake them in an oven, paint them, put them back together, and re-install.

the painting does look nicer, but it's harder work. but thats why vinyl overlays exist in the first place--ease of install.

just remember to start at an edge and work your way up the vinyl.

as already said, its a good idea to use soapy water so you'll have some 'wiggle room' to get out kinks that may occur in the vinyl. thumbsup

Thanks for the posts guys. Do you think I should just cut out a piece of the vinyl to cover the orange part? Im just wondering if it has to go over the whole light to make it look more even, coor wise.

i read in the install you don't have to bake them. Just uninstall them, cover the part you not going to paint with tape and just paint the orange part.

I was going to but the only reason I went with importequipment's is because I prefer paying with a credit card.
