Is your car stick?

If so, maybe the clutch is bad

what exactly happens? is it that you get no power at the start and all the way thru the power band? or does it feel like your engine is reving like crazy but you go no where?

it might either be your clutch or a valve cover head gasket is blown. either way ive been thru both and not to hard to change out. let me know if you need any more help

It could be a problem cause by using poor fuel. Lack of combustibility. Luckily, its easy to fix. All you need is a couple of bottles of 91% rubbing alcohol| pour them in and youre set to go

| but seriously, its likely either the clutch or throttle cable. Check both out and report back. thumbsup

to answer your question, it doesn't start off in first. it can take up to 30 sec. to start in first and then takes off really really quickly. it's really messed up... i was told many times it could definitely be the clutch.. thanks for your help..

HA HA... all it was, was a dirty sensor. They cleaned it and it works great now. Speeds right up. But they broke my sensor on my passenger side seat beat. Oh well right??

Yeah 38,000 miles and needing a new clutch in a Toyota. That's crazy unless you drove it off the lot till that day like you stole it and raced every Honda Civic idiot at every stop light smoking the tires and chirping each gear. I'm glad to see it was something simple as it should have been. Have fun with your Celica. Sometimes it could be too much fun.

My friend Scotty would never wear his seat belt even if I insisted or I never moved an inch in my Celica from day one. He would lift his fat ass off that seat for a 45 minute ride just not to get that annoying seat belt light. Only one time he buckled up and that was because I was going 120 in a 40 around turns. He had done worse in his Mustang or even his Corsica. That means a lot to me, my car, and my driving skills. He now buckles up like we all should. I hope they fix that soon because from my own experience it just seems to piss people off. I don't know why either. My friend is an exception I guess.

You don't have a clutch problem.

Clean your MAF sensor and temp probe, as well as the throttle plate. $10 says that'll make it go away and restore throttle Performance.

Keep your sensors clean, the GTS is very reliant on them.

I clean the MAF/throttle body everytime I change the oil, and I usually get some crap out of it.

I hadn't done it all winter, and my MAF was so clogged up, I had to clean it wih choke cleaner for nearly 5 minutes

^^ you remove the 2 screws unplug the wire harness, spray it with brakekleen, let it dry for a sec and put it back in. 2 mins tops.

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I'm curious. Why would a faulty "seat belt" sensor cause the car not too accelerate??
