A vvtl-i engine has it top power of 192hp at 7800 rpm (euro) so a redline at 7500 sound strange.

american spec celicas that are vvtl-i redliens start at 7800 rpms and end at 9, except for the '02 model year which i beleive the redline started at 7500 rpms and ended at 9.

^^unless they don't have many australian websites on google...austrlian information could be better. i could only find about 10 pages on the toyota celica sx..and the couple of pages i found specifications on didnt mention redline..thats ridiculous.

anyway, i went to toyotas official australian site (www.toyota.com.au [toyota.com.au]) and even they didn't list specs (wtf confused).

but what i did find is that while both the sx and the zr celicas come with vvtl-i, the sx is the base model while the zr is the top. this could be the reason for your lower redline..does the zr come with an 7800 rpm redline? might help to find that out. in any case you drive an '01 celica so the redline should not have been lowered yet as the '02 models have.

the difference between sx and the zr is that the sx is standard same engine same red line everything except the zx has a few extra things such as sun roof and abs brakes thats all stupid realy if you ask me the price for a zr is like $47'000 just for those extra features and the sx that doesnt have those extra stuff is around $40'000 but the engine everthiing is the same but yeah no kidding they both start red lineing at around 7500 and end at 9000

I believe it's 7800rpm redline and 8400rpm fuel cut-off.

But then again those are the North America specs, Euro and Asia and Oceanic seem to get other models like M-Sport and such that have 190bhp and such.
