Man I dunno.. I think the plate can't be obstructed at all. I remember some woman getting pulled over a while back because she put electrical tape over a part of her plate because she said it was racist. But laws differ from state to state. Best of luck to you, though! thumbsup

they are going to give you fix it ticket..
when i got mine they told me that it needed to be screwed on somewhere, not ziptied.
But the cop was nice enough to let me pass the check.
look for some type of metal or plastic that sticks out of the car.. like the honda civics.
i'm looking for that too, but i don't know where to get it

what imma do with my license plate is tilt it forward, sort of like the jdm look, using 2 L-brackets by bending them and drilling some holes. Kim has it on his car and it looks tight.

I think that you're gonna have to tilt it. That's what you have to do here in VA. Or just put it on the bumper.

I'd say that it is definitely illegal because your whole plate must be exposed, especially the tags.

Although, it is descretionary, so the cop may or may not ticket it for you.

I live in St. Louis, and have not had a front plate on my car for almost a year now, and not one cop has said anything about it.

Yeah, I don't see any prob with it either but there are assholes for cops out there that just might wanna say something to exercise their authority. I think you should talk to a cop or something. I'm happy I got PA tags. PA law requires cars to only have the rear plate. grin

Two problems I see with it (potentially).

1. As already mentioned, some states require the plate to be bolted on (no zip ties).

2. Most states don't allow the plate to be obstructed (even partially). Some states are stricter than others, but in the most extreme cases you can't even have a license plate frame thumbsdown

The bottom line is:

If the cop is an ass, and wants to find a reason to write you a ticket, he will and can ticket you for it.

It's not like a cop would pull over for just having your front plate looking like that (usually they won't), but if he is a dick, and walks around your car and wants to write you a ticket for something, then he will.

Some cops just hate kids, and cars like Celicas.

Well I'm really hoping you don't have any problems because I'm in Illinois too & I've gotten 9 tickets so far for no front plate.(I can't find my front plate). I was just thinking about this yesterday & really don't feel like drilling into the front bumper of my kit. I've recently ordered a personalized plate. A good friend of mine is a Chicago PO so I'm gonna ask him about it.

you CAN still be ticketed, because it is NOT mounted correctly.

however, i doubt many officers will pull you over specifically for that. most likely, if you get pulled over for something else (running redlight, speeding, etc.) they will probably add your incorrectly mounted license plate to the rest of the ticket.

I have the TRD front end and I bolted mine behind the mesh grill, you can still read it just fine. it's been that way for almost a year now, I haven't been bothered by cops yet, and I like in illinois about an hour outside of chicago. Lombard to be exact!

If it's covering some of the stickers (here we have stickers you need to have to prove your car is registered for the year) then I believe it'll be a problem
