Hand Brake

Is there anyway to tighten the hand brake without going to the dealer?

It goes almost all the way up, or else the car slides back. My dad's GT goes up like less than 1/2 way.

Is this just a wear over time issue, or can I tighten it?

yeah, it's probably wear over time, if you get your front breaks done it will fix it, it's because your break pads are wearing down (the emergency break engages the front breaks). How much do you engine break? because although STRONG engine breaking is bad, having the engine help you stop by downshifting is important to the longevity of your breaks. (if you drive an auto)

I drive a 6spd man and I downshift in certain situations, and brake in others. I've only had many one hard stop on the highway, but the car was purchased used. I was planning on getting it services (i.e. brakes) in the next month or so.

Thanks for the input, I didn't know the emergency brake engaged the front brakes.

there should be a cable adjustment point under the car prolly in or around the exhaust tunnell.

I think it's on the base of the E-Brake Handle under the center console.

I'll take a peek under the hand brake tomorrow when I have some daylight to work with.
