okay so the 3SGTE is the MR2 engine right? inorder for it to fit into the celica to you have to go with the short block or the long block, and what gen. do you go with or are they all the same? I was looking at http://www.toysport.com/ >> "Specials" >>> "Toysport engine / ecu inventory" >> "Toysport Engine Inventory" there they have a huge list of diffrent engines so how do you know what one is the right one?[/color]

the 3sGTE from the MR2's is RWD...the 3sGTE you are looking for is from the 90-93 celica all-trac...its the 3sGTE with AWD...you will need the re-built engine, tranny, and suspension to make it work, as well as someone to fabricate the install for you...look here for the engine and tranny tho>>>>> top end motorsports [topendmotorsports.com] thumbsup

All the 3sgte engines are the same. The trannys are different. You can go with the AWD or the RWD...up to you. Definately cheaper to go with the RWD.

the engines are re-built...and you'll have to get the suspension because our celicas (7th gen) are setup for front wheel drive

beams is alright, just over 200 hp but its the 3sge on steroids grin
the 3sgte is still better in terms of upgrading.
misconception number
#1: all 3sgte are not the same, they vary from generation to generation and car to car.

# 2 the mr2 3sgte is better to use for a 7th gen swappe as opposed to the gt4 celica 3sgte.
it has more usable stuff
#3the 3rd gen is more ideal, more hp better platform to upgrade, head is different(can rev hi without to much problems)has map instead of maf which makes it easier in terms of space if you are not going stand alone.

#4 the mr2 is rear wheel drive because the engine and tranny sits in the rear(actually middle/rear)but its actually a front drive transaxle set up.for this reason it is the ideal combo for a 7th gen celica swappe.cause you can use the tranny.(probelems:shafts, toyota didnt make all the shafts for the mr2 and gt4 transm.the same they have some that are different if you are getting the tranny ask for the shafts as well)

#5 the awd 3sgte tranny cannot work in the celica unless you have your own shop,and/or willing to waste a lot of money!

#6 the 3sgte is not a walk in the park swappe for a 7th gen celica.its hard even for a 5th and 6th gen gt and the motor drops and bolt right in.

before you run off to buy that beast find out what it entails to do the job or the car might be sitting for a long time waiting for stuff to complete it thumbsup

from what i understand, this engine would offer more hp than a Turbo'd or nos'd 2zz.

is the 3sgte Turbo'd from factory? if not, imagine the hp/torque from that... if so, would a larger Turbo be possible?

yes but what kind of places would re fabricate an engine into a car inwhich it doesn't even fit right...

it would really kill you unless you have another car, knowing how long it would take...
