i've heard people say on a 1.5" drop you will be fine on stock sruths and shocks but i've also heard people say you won't. which is it?

I can't get a good answer on decent struts either. I am going for a 2" drop and the only suggestions I've gotten are for some shocks that are like $500.

well, i installed progress springs which are a 1.8 inch drop. my car is fairly new having been bought last october of 2003. right now, i'm at about 6000 miles. i installed my springs with my stock shocks on. the ride is a little bumpier. but the shocks should be ok for awhile. i don't know how long they'll last. but that was just my set up.

Tokico Shock and Spring set can run as low as $450 ish USD and it provides a 1.25" drop.

any alternatives? i know several people even around here that have their cars lowered 1.5" on stock shocks/struts and the ride quality is even still good.

it really depends on how old your stock struts are.. if they have a lot of miles, you really should replace them along with the springs.

so i'm guessing the lower you go with the drop, the more neccessary it is for struts/shocks?

that's a lot of miles to switch to aftermarket springs.. you should really save up for springs AND struts.

celica has struts, not shocks. People often confuse the two because they are used interchangeably in the common vernacular, but they are, in fact, two separate things.

get a spring/strut combo - TRD or Eibach are both good options

ok people, lets get this straight... were all talking about lowering our cars here but then again why are we upgrading the suspension? to get better handling... if your going for only looks, then dont change the struts, if they blow then who cares... its the look. if your going for handling then swap out everything, I have a 3'' drop in the front and a 2.75'' in the rear, with sunk2 adj springs, and kybagx adj struts, with a hotchkis camber kit, an ingalls front camber kit and an apr Performance strut bar... now thats imporoved handling, vertually no body roll all costed me about 1200$ plus installation.

ohboy

you change the struts so that the ride will be smooth & not bumpy. You don't necessarily change the struts for Performance reason, you change them for a comfortable ride. Safety over looks smile
