Hi all,

What does a Celica cost in you country/state?

I live in Denmark, and we are heavily burdened by taxes on cars.

The GT cost approx $68.000
The GTS cost approx $78.000

both with 6 speed manual transmission

only option is leather interior at approx $4.000

The rules in Denmark are as follows:
The first $8.300 of the factory price the tax is 105%
The rest of the factory price the tax is 180%
Then all this is added up and 25% VAT put on top of everything

And this is without anything to the dealer (this comes on top)

Then we have the gas prices... 1 Liter of 95 unleaded cost $1.28

A full tank cost approx $60

Then we have tax on the usage of the car. This is calculated on the fuel consumption of the car - Both GT and GTS cost approx $600 a year

Insurance varies from approx $.1000 - $4.000 a year (dependent of the age of the driver and insurance history - some cannot get the Celica insured)

Hope you have better conditions than we have in Denmark

Regards

Is that in USD? eek

I thougt I payed much! grin

My GT: 37000$ (with leather, parking aid, vv2 alarm, subwoofer, auto airco, soundsystem)

One time taxes: 1050$

Yearly taxes: 302$

Yearly insurance: 1722$ (not fully covered)

Gas: 1 gallon = 5,16$
1 l = 1,36$
1 tank = 75$

That's about it.

your gas price is about right, but your costs should be way off.

as celica_tsport said, you should only be paying about $35-$40 thousand american dollars for a gts in europe. a gt will obviously cost less.

Celica_Tsport is from England and there the GTS is even more expensive than in Belgium or Germany. That's why some people from England are buying their cars here in Belgium. And the price seems to be high but that's just because the dollar is low.

The GTS cost 493.375 danish kroner incl delivery costs.

1 USD is 6.26 danish kroner. Thus the GTS costs $78.814

If you don't believe me, check the prices here: http://www.toyota.dk/media/dkdk/pdf/prices/priserpers.pdf

The currency can be checked here:

Now, how much money do yiu make in a year? You don't have to answer, but I think it is more than the people in the rest from europe. How much are the taxes on the income (I give 50% of my money I earn to the goverment)?

And if you don't earn more! STAY AWAY FROM THE CELICA grin

I would guess that an average sallery would be around 275.000 dkr pr year ~ $44.000 and of that we pay 50% in taxes... if one earns more than that, we pay 70% in taxes...

But then education (primary school, high shool, university, and so on) and hospitals are free...

I have taken a loan in my car... and it will probably be my car in about 6 years...

Well I priced a GTS last year fully loaded was $39,000 (Canadian) total including freight, taxes etc.

So I ended up buying a 2000 GTS in 2002 for $22,000 which at the time was a really good deal cause the guy was moving out of the country and needed to sell ASAP. They were going for about $29,000 still when I bought it in 2002.

24yr old male
I pay about 80 cents a litre for gas now. $40 to fill.
$300/month for insurance.
$380 car loan payment.

For years car factories have sold the cars to Danish dealers below (up to 20-30% below) the ordinary prices (compared to other countries) because of the extremely high taxes on cars in Denmark... Just to being able to sell cars in Denmark... but not all factories have done this...

But because of EU this is now in the process of being eliminated (free marketing stuff)... Thus in the last 1-2 years all prices on cars have risen 10-15% in Denmark, which is a lot of money when we pay the car 3 times because of taxes thumbsdown

Just to show how stupid the Danish system: We have 2 types of license plates "White" and "Yellow". "White" is for normal cars, sports cars, mini vans and so on... "Yellow" is for companies and private persons who need to move stuff around and only allows 2 seats (sport cars not allowed). And on "Yellow" plates there is only 30% tax (and a lot af fines if any rules about the use of the car are broken)

So in Denmark a Porsche Cayenne V6 (the small one) cost $160.000

But if you vandalize the car by ripping out the back seats and makes some small adjustments, then it can be registered as a truck on "Yellow" plates and only costs $64.000 - but I guess that won't last long... the government is fast to close such gaps in the rules...

$15 to fill up your tank? wow, i wish i could remember those days. h w is gas down there so low? that would have to be like $1.10 a gallon! the cheapest we have here is $1.71, and i know that is lower than in a lot of places!

I need to confess:
I got a good deal (actually I guess I took advantage!! but I don't feel guilty, oportunities like this: only once in life!!!)
I have a '90 300zx (fun&fast) but 6 months ago, a friend of mine just needed money and I bought his '00 GT (60k miles) for US$10.000 Very good condition (w/kaminari b.k. and the tittle: clean!) I haven't found another Celica like this for this price!!!!

Ca., US

After reading over the thread, I'm guessing the $18,500 I paid for my new '04 GT (34 miles on the odo when bought it, including my 9 mile test drive) is ok? That 18,500 is me out the door with everything, including the kickin' 100K/7 yr. bumper-bumper warranty with full maintenance plan. It's not a GTS, but it's pretty much loaded as far as I can tell. Power everything, sunroof, etc.

And yeah, this is my first post. Hi peeps!
