Hey Guys~ I have a 2000 GTS that has a serious belt squeaking problem. I have reviewed the TSB's and did get the tensioner replaced. Is there anything I can do to make it stop? Has anyone tried any belt squeak stop, or anyone have any household tips. I've heard stuff like Ivory soap even works. Any opinions or hints would be greatly appreciated because it's driving me INSANE! It's hard to look cool with a belt you can hear squeaking for miles

I had the same problem with a Geo Prizm. Its basically a Corolla underneath all that American crap. But anyways, I think a belt might have needed to be replaced. I never did anything with it because I sold it to my dad and got my Celica. Anyways, my Celica seems to have started to make this same noise, just not as loud. A help would be appreciated.

one of the hoses came off my overflow tank and sprayed coolant all over my belts. I bought some belt dressing at pepboys and it helped. It continued for about a week but then I went on a long drive and it stopped after that. Anyway get the belt dressing.

when you apply the belt dressing be careful because my friend said that the bd screwed up his belts. I dont know if this is possible but you may want to ask someone first. I had no problems w/ mine.

I had that problem. I spent a few bucks on dressing but the problem kept coming back especially after I hit lift. I got so sick of it that I bought a new belt and replaced it in like 2 minutes! It was much better after that. A new belt is only 7 bucks but having your car sounding like crap in front of girls is just not the celica style.
oh and I wouldn't put ivory soap on the pulleys because if your belt starts sliping then you will have greater problems.

Replace your belt with a gatoback serpentine belt cost is about 60 bucks! Listen to this guy, Goodyear Gatorback belts never squeak and free up a little horsepower in some cases. PnOyGtS, do you remember off-hand what the part number for our belt is?

My 2000 GTS had that annoying squeak too. Got the gatorback belt and it runs quiet and smooth. after all the talk of the bearings and tensioner, I was thinking this was going to be big bucks but that gatorback was under $50 from autozone. GET THIS BELT!

First and foremost. Prizm's blow. Now that that's out'a the way... What if you don't get the tensioner replaced and you just get the belt. Then the belt snaps and bends all your valves? Is this scenario possible?
