you have to go and register for a custom plate at the DMV. I think it like 35 bucks. Then you have to pay annually to keep it or thats just how it is in ohio.

i don't think there is an monthly fee, but there is an annual i think. go to your motor vehilce services to get the plate.

well here in nebraska you can choose custom lettering. Cost $30.00 probably annually. But you get 4 choice, you pick what you wanted to be your first and most choice and if that choice can not be made then they will go with your second choice and so on. Can't get any special characteristic like @#$%^&* << none of those but you can get this: - just a dash. here in nebraska the plate have 3 letters and 3 numbers. For example: OBJ 262 << that's regular plate. But you need to apply for your custom letter at the DMV. good luck

its 25 bucks a year in north dakota to keep em, 7 letters max, go to the dmv they will hook you up as long as it isnt derrogatory
