Why most people bought short Intake instead of long one ??
Are they work the same?
Which one is better?
I am new, can I ask what Intake for?

I have an Injen Race Divicion cold air Intake (a long one).. Is really cool, I like the sound that it gives to your engine.. Hum is really cool how it sounds when it releases air when the engine gets shut off.. Hum you should get one.. an air Intake (short) or cold air Intake (long), it would be better than the stock air box.. thumbsup
An air Intake, it allows you engine to get more air, and by that, it increases horse powers..(it depends on the type of Intake that you get).. and also it wastes less fuel..

i went with a short ram because it has a better presentation when you open the hood...

a CAI leaves the engine bay looking empty and give it that "missing something" look.

Also, the filter on the short ram tends to not get as dirty, as quickly, as it often does on a CAI.

the filter on a short ram can also be cleaned much effortlessly than the filter on a CAI - with the CAI, you may need to remove your bumper to do the recommended 6 months/6,000 miles (or when dirty) cleaning process

i really could have cared less about the 2hp difference between the two.

I also choose the short ram instead of the CAI because I needed to be sure that WHATEVER bumper i decided to put on my Celica next, it would fit... there are some bumpers that don't leave enough room for a CAI.

and lastly, i would not have been able to relocate one of the two stock Celica horns - out of vision, such as it was in it's current location. factory placement made the celi look look ugly. so i moved it from the front of the body, around to the side (sound volume hasn't changed, only the location).

All of that, especially the 2 hp diff, and IMO the shortram has a beefier sound too.

the 2 whp difference is in favor of the cai (not shortram).

if you are looking into shortrams, i would look into injen or rmm (with heatshield)

if you are looking into cai's i would look into aem (2nd gen) and injen.

the cai (as i already said) usually gives about 1-2 more whp than a shortram. if you add an exhaust and/or header the difference will be even bigger (up to 5 whp). if you are interested in Performance and plan to add an exhaust/header then i would go with cai even with teh difficulties it has. (5 whp is a pretty big difference).

pesonally, i'm more of a shortram person and that's probably what i'll be getting in the following weeks. it's more of a 'show mod' plus considerring how cash-strapped i am i don't think an exhaust/header will be coming much sooner depending on how dc motorsports does thumbsup

i'm probably gonna be getting a k&n typhoon short ram pretty soon. Honestly i don't think the 2whp is worth the risk of hydrolock. Sure you have to hit a big puddle, but i don't want to be nervous driving in the rain. Also you can't see your filter so you really don't know when its dirty or damaged. I remember reading a while back where some guy went to clean his filter and it had actually fallen off! Of course i'm gonna put the RMM heatshield on also, with my trd front i expect for it to be rather cold air without complete cold air. (TRD bumper gots big vent in front)

you can get a bypass valve which virtually eliminates hydrolock.

That Vol. Recall for the bypass valve states that a piece COULD come off and get in your throttle body or something of that nature.
