if a car get hydrolocked
what exactly do you have to replace? is it everything, or just like the motor?

In most cases, your whole engine is toast.

I don't know, I've seen people on boards who just changed the oil, and spark plugs, and the car worked fine. Others I've seen would have been better off misshifting

Actually it will be the rings on your pistons that go. When water enters the cylinders, it vaporizes causing steam, and it's that excess steam that raises the cylinder pressure like ten fold, so most likely you are gonna blow your rings.
