For those that have seen 50 First Dates, what type of car is that Drew Barrymore is driving? I have a friend that wants one and I, for the life of me, cannot remember what it was! It looks like an old army jeep or something, possibly a VW.

It's an old VW jeep.

I'm gonna take your little Civic. Dust it off. Turn it sideways and stick it straight up you candy A*s.

ok the old fart will kick in...yes it was called THE THING it was marketed as a vehicle you got dis-assemble and reassemble however you wanted to personalize it, kind of a hippy thing. You used to see them driving around with no doors or other body parts on them. They didn't last too long. grin

lol, I remember my dad talking about those one day.
Also, isnt GM developing a new platform that is sorta like the thing? I believe I heard that it will let you greatly personalise the look of each car (swap in/out the quarter panels, body kits, etc) for a non outragious price.

Wow what a great idea for GM to do. The first thing I would ditch is that FUGLY Avalanche looking front end they put on every vehicle except the vette. I used to be pure GM until I a) got screwed on a warranty issue, & b) they started getting their styling cues from a big ugly POS. (imo).

I think the vette and the Escalade are the only GM vehicles I really like. The vette is so powerfull, plus its not a bad looking car.
