i just went out and checked, you can do it with your fingers, just push in the little clip on the side facing the front of car, and just wiggle harness off.

you'll need a screw driver unless you have long nails or tiny fingers.

Push in the clip, and the harness will slide out.

When you get the center console apart, don't loose the two "arms" or the console will wiggle when you put it together

you will need a small punch, one again im not sure quite what size, but the smaller the better, just hit it out with a hammer, itll come out pretty easy, but it will go back in hard.

id say that that reverse is the only gear that got harder to find, but it shouldnt be to difficult. if its just a little different that should be normal. once you get the knob on it'll go easier.

Lube up your linkage inside and outside the care with some white lithium grease, should fix the problem.
