Ive had a B&M shortshifter for like 8 months now and never had a problem. i did the install my self. but these last couple days its been really hard to get it into gears, and it'll grind everynow and then. it doesnt do it everytime i drive it, but like 1 out of 4 times it gets tough to shift. any possible reasons its doing this???

yea man its ur synchro mesh they are shot most likly hopefully there not...when you take it to the company there gonna tell you its ur short shifter(if you have one) so there gonna make you take it back home and reinstall the orginal shifter ( trust me) same thing happened to me... then theyll look at it ... but my car is in the shop right now i wont get it till like the end of the month theyre gonna have to rebuild my transmission its gonna cost me a grand since its not under my warranty...but theyre redoing the transmission and clutch so im happy! same thing happened to me i started to grind in 3rd and it started to get worse so i finally took it in

could be your synchros but have you tried installing speed-sources shifter cable bushings speed-source [speed-source.net] ? they improve the feel by replacing your rubber bushings with solid versions.

if you do take it in the service advisors may blame the shifter but federal law, magnuson-moss act, prohibits them from denying service. magnuson-moss warranty act [sema.org] they have to prove that the aftermarket part caused the damage (a short shifter shouldn't be the cause of bad synchros either). the problem i see you experiencing is having the service techs duplicate the problem.

mine is sporadic, also (even after installing the shifter bushings; just less frequent) but i'm gonna try and hold off until i install a quaife lsd, lightweight flywheel and new clutch plate and get them checked/repaired at the same time.

STILL, if i have to i have proof of the problems BEFORE i installed my b&m s/s.

whatever happens, though, good luck thumbsup
