I'm still going to vouch for the fact that XS is an excellent kit. However if you have someone that doesn't know 100% what they are doing install it for you, then it'll be crap.
Knowing the path and choosing the path are two different things.

trial usa installed an xs engineering kit for one of illusives & lucky_317's friends. needless to say nothing but problems have been the result.
does that mean the kit itself is bad? no, but it does mean people with a lot of experience installing aftermarket parts had quite a time with it.
Hm. Know what? Im gonna take a day and go up to XS engineering and ask a million questions and see what i dig up. Because it seems that no matter how many posts i see about Turbos, i'm never really comfortable with an answer.

true, let me know how it comes.
i'm actually not a huge fan of Turbos. it seems almost every time i hear of someone getting a Turbo, that person has something negative to say about it. leaning more towards superchargers.
but then in the city i wouldn't use that much of the high-peak power. rite?
assuming you have a manual, that's entirely up to your decision when to shift
a s/c would be better for efficient city crusin' because it gives you hp at low rpms as well as the high - by efficient city crusin' i mean shifting before you reach 5-6k rpms
a Turbo will be better for racing since you're going to be revving high, assuming you want to win the race
eh i drank too much coffee sorry basically, the ammount of "high-peak power" you use, is up to you.
edit: if you have an automatic, a s/c might be better for your application.. not sure how or when automatics decide to shift, or what rpms they rev to before doing so
i think autos shift around 4 most of the time. i'm pretty new with Performance stuff. so bare wit me =P. i dink ima change to touchshift tho. so any opinions on that?

Not when parts from it crack.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force...number one in the hood, G
since you have a gt, the only decent Turbo is the strafford Turbo..and it currently has some problems that they are working out
We haven't had any problems with the GT kit nor the GTS kit. What kinds of problems are you talking about?
Richard
nate (trog2243) has a gt celica and was just recently looking into the strafford Turbo. he did some research and decided against it due to 'some problems' he heard about. said strafford was currently tweaking it.
The Turbo will yield you so much more power for much lower price.
Richard
most Turbos cost the same as a supercharger.
true that Turbos usually give more horsepower. however, superchargers give much more low-end horsepower throughout the powerband as opposed to the Turbo (which decreases initial power, but more than makes up for it on the top-end).
I would much rather have the supercharger. It might benefit your 1/4 times slightly less than a Turbo, but it will make the car SO much more fun to drive. Putting a Turbo in a car with an utter lack of low-end torque just doesn't make sense to me. If you put the S/C in, you'd actually feel the difference under normal driving conditions.
I'm not sure that there is ANY forced-induction kit out there now that I'd use. It seems that the companies haven't really spent the time to work the last few kinks out of them. Likely due to the fact that the Celica just has such a small base of tuners, compared to cars like the Civic that these companies usually produce products for.
If someone would just make a non-fugly hood, I'd go jump on the TRD S/C.
I'm just a crosshair I'm just a shot away from you

i thought boost kicked in at around 1500~2000 rpm for the stafford kit. correct me if im wrong richard

you have a gts, therefore the trd supercharger is not for you (made for 1zz engine, not 2zz)
the only supercharger available for the gts is the blitz supercharger, and currently it's not marketed in the US. you can import it from japan, but you'd have to retuen your ecu to compensate for the lower octane gas found in the u.s.. (blitz plans to distribute to the states though. they say 'soon'..but you know how that goes)
ok while we are on the subject of S/C's, what is a good brand (besides TRD, with the bubble on the hood), i dont know of to many other brands to choose from, maybe blitz, that wont ruin your hood?
edit: oh you must have posted while i was...lol
