are you talking about the tiburon?

although i do like the new tiburons (they also have more power & torque than a celica gts), i still rather my celica.

hyundai has done a lot for it's reputation recently and it's warranty is the best in the auto industry, but it's still nowhere near toyotas reputability.

u can get more horses of that v6 181hp tiburon if you modify it(if they got parts for it). i really like the way they look, but for some reason i cant compare it with celicas. tiburon for me is at a level of v6 mustangs, civic coupes...

If the "coupe" you're talking about is the Tiburon, it's actually pretty slow...Although the v6 has like 170hp, it weighs a shitload, and those cars suck for modding rolleyes

thats what they said earlier. not anymore. they over rated the HP, just like mazda did with their rx8. they now say "V6 2.7-liter 172 Horsepower DOHC Engine"

the tiberans aren't bad cars. just the sun roofs keep breaking. like one day they just wont open. They've had a couple recalls. They also have bad blind spots. They look decant but the headlights are too bubbly. They look good in white. or black.

Hyundai always overates horsepower, this is the 3rd time it's happened.

Problem is, the car runs great on the dyno at the Korean factory, then it comes to the US with the smog equipment, and loses 10 HP

yeah those new tiburons are pretty slow. i have gts and i drove the v6 tiburon, they are very heavy and there is no kick in them. even with the v6 torque, i didn't felt any torque in em. The engine has no balls. and after 2 gear, it runs like accord. my friend beat the v6 6 speed with v6 auto accord. so that may answer your question. And there is no parts for these cars as much as celica

i need a new car i wannt a 2003 celica but cant afford it frown
thats way i looked at the tiburon

The Tiburon is actually a nice car. The is engine (2.0) is RELIABLE and like it more than my GT's engine. It rides smoother, not as quick though. On the inside it is really nice, totally NOT cheap looking (2003 model). I think my celica looks cheaper on the inside. It is a lot cheaper, but has less waranty than a celica.
Celica = 5 years waranty
Tiburon = 3 years waranty
My conclusion: if you want Performance and a nice looking ride then buy a celica.
If you want a smooth engine buy the Tiburon (don't like the looks on the outside).

That's just my opinion.

If you actually care about any sort of Performance, the Hyundai is a joke. I can't believe they even made a V6 that only pushes 170-something HP. And I thought the V6 Mustang's 197 was bad. rolleyes

I don't care what the "warranty length" is on these cars... because that means exactly jack. What do you think will happen if every Hyundai falls apart 8 years into the 10 year coverage period? Will they go back and fix all those cars? Hell no, they'll go under. Look what happened to Daewoo. I know they offered a pretty solid warranty, but those people are high-and-dry now.

Bottom line is that there are MUCH better options for the money than the Hyundai. You could get anything from a new GT Celica to a Mazda 3 to a Scion or a Civic Si. All of those cars are better built for the same price.

Still weighs a shit load for a sport coupe. I tend to think of them as Mustangs.

Actually, Isuzu's warranty is the best. 10 years 120k miles powertrain. They also carry a better corrosion warranty.

But comparing those two car companies is like comparing shit to sewage.

Hmm... what makes the tax different for the Hyundai as opposed to the Celica? Are there tariffs on products from Japan, but not on products from Korea?

if i will get a coupe it will be a 2,0 and maybe a little slow i never tryed it.
i like the GT but i wudd love a GTS but i dont fhink i wannt any fhing slower than my GT so if i going to buy a coupe it must be the 2.0 becuase of the taxes so then mybe i dont shudd by the car.

There are a lot of advantages to both cars. Yes i am a tiburon owner, but i had toyotas before hyundai. I use to have the second gen (2001) model, now i have a 2003, 3rd gen, model. I'm posting this mssg cause i find that so many people have comments about a car that they have never owned. so just a few comments that i've come up with from reading this thread.
>>>>>i can't resist the infinity sound system w/ sub and cd changer
>>>>>I've never had any problems getting warrenty work on any of my tiburons.
>>>>>Hands down the interior is far superior with the 2003. I thought the interior on the 01 looked cheap and i bought the damn thing.
>>>>>The tiburon warranty is 10 years not 3 (for US models). the thing that sucks about this is that it is non-transferable. once the second owner purchases the vehicle the powertrain drops to a 50,000 mile/5 year warranty from date of manufacturing (this goes for the isuzu warranty as well). So making the new 2004 mitsubishi 10 year/100k mile warranty the best, because it is fully transferable.
>>>>>i've never heard of a sunroof leaking/breaking. both my tibs had sun roofs and never had problems with them.
>>>>>I've heard from the insurance company and the dealer that the engines for hyundai are made by mitsubishi
>>>>>toyota has a much better reputation than hyundai and way higher resale value. frown not good for anyone not owning a toyota. (by the way, i've owned 2 corollas as well, they were good cars)
>>>>>originally when i bought my first tibby, the price is what drew me to it. when i bought my second, loyalty to the brand, comfort (tiburon is just flat out bigger and more roomy than the celica), and sticker. i got every accessory possible except the V6 engine with my tib when i would have had to roll up my windows manually for the same price in a celica.
>>>>>i was embarrassed that they came out with a 172 HP V6, what the hell is the point
>>>>>i like the fact that you just can't pull right up to a garage and pick out all the mods that you want. if the mods are harder to find, then you just see a lot more customizing, and leaves more opportunity to use your imagination. plus you just gotta know where to look.
>>>>>hyundai is far more reliable today then ten years ago...come to think of it so is toyota. i don't think any car is perfect.
>>>>>a long warrenty means that a company backs their product. unfortunately hyundai is banking on the owner selling it before they reach the 5th year. but, i don't hardly ever have to take my car in for warrenty work, and i think it's just a sign of the times. have you all noticed that all the warrenties are getting longer: dodge, hyudai, kia( bought out by hyundai), suzuki, mitsubishi, etc.
>>>>>my best friend has a celica, and i drive it all the time. that car has some pretty bad blind spots wink
>>>>>i don't think my car is "shit" or "sewage"

ok sorry about all that, but just had to say it. no hard feelings though. Celica is a bad ass car and originally was my first choice. also, i was a toyota enthusiast before i was a hyundai enthusiast.

becuase of a reasen i dont know way they just take in 1,6 and 2,7 so if i wannt the 2,0 i must spesial order it (takes a little longer , but no more cost )

Went to the Norway Hyundai website wink

If you can get a 2.0 you should do it. It is a really nice car with a reliable engine (a friend has one, I drive it alot). There is only one thing better on my Celica and that is the looks, but that is just my taste.
In my opinion you can't go wrong with a Hyundai Coup or a Celica.

I don't think it's slow. Yah, it doesn't have that much HP, but it's a lot better than a civic. I've never raced a celica before so i'm not sure how it goes up with one. It all depends on how you drive too. I don't have any problems getting good pick up, but i run my RPM's kinda high. i use to drag my old tiburon a lot, and this new one has better pickup and handles like a dream compared to the 01.

Uh, it is slow. It's too heavy for the engine that it has.

I really dont like the body style of the old ones but 03+ I think are extremely good looking, but if i ever owned one I would always be worrying about the fact that I drive a Hyundai...
