looking good.

do you use the shift indicator often? or do you prefer just to use your tach?

I mostly drive by feel nowadays, but the shift light is there for peace of mind. it's set so the first light (green) comes on at 4K, two amber lights then come on at 5 and 6K respectively, and the red light comes on at 7K. this helps when running the car in lift, I see the lights in my peripheral vision so I always know where my revs are at, so I don't need to take my eyes off the road whenn pushing the car hard.

having the lights along with the engine sound makes it easy to tell how high I'm revving, and it makes it easier to time the shifts in M mode.

It also helps maintain fuel economy, so long as I don't light anything other than the green lamp occasionally, my fuel economy is great.

why not set the last light at 8k or 8.2k? thats redline/fuel cutoff

Because by the time the red light comes on, the engine would be bouncing off the rev limiter and choking (I have a 2002 BTW, fuel cut is at 7800RPM)

Red comes on at 7K because if it lights at 7K, I still have about 800 RPM to do something about it (IE shift the tranny or let off the gas pedal) I consider 7K my danger zone, if the motor is revving too long at that speed, it's not the best for the engine's health anyways. I used to have it set so the first light would come on at 5K and the two ambers and red would light in sequence through lift, but in the long run I found my current settings work best for my driving habits.

For those that asked, I'll try to take some sound clips of the exhaust in the near future. It's pretty loud with the silencer removed, but with the silencer installed, it's nice and mellow tone.

BTW, I also purchased a beltronics FX1 accelerometer. I've been messing with it a bit, getting it dialed in properly. I'll be posting a guide soon on how to set up a Vector FX1 or FX2 for the celica soon. unfortunately, for truly accurate readings from this unit, I need to get a baseline dyno of my car to calculate HP correction.

Right now I've got it set up to where it measures crank HP pretty close, the invidia seems to be good for an extra 3+ HP to the wheels when the silencer is in, closer to 5 or 7 HP with the silencer out (this is just with the exhaust, and a stock Intake system w/butterfly still in; I expect these numbers to jump up a bit once I put on the K&N short ram.)

So stay tuned for new pics, updates and info; it's on the way. thumbsup
