I really like the ViS Invader Hood (they're having a GB on it here) but the only thing that kills the look are those hood pinS! grrr, would it be possible not to have the hood pins on this beautiful hood? Maybe like pop the hood and tape a brick to the bottom it and close the hood, and wallah!

do NOT get a carbon fiber hood without hood pins.

it's extremely unsafe and can be extremely dangerous (for both you and others driving around you).

if you get a carbon fiber hood, it is highly, HIGHLY recommended that you get hoodpins...it's just not worth it to do otherwise.

each 'pin' is actually a few parts. a 'base' attaches to a place in your engine bay (not on the hood) while the 'pin' is attached to your hood. a hole is made so that the hood is allowed to go through the 'base' and the pin closes on top of it.

simplified explanation, hopefully you ge the point.

oo i c, they shouldve made the pin inside the hood, like an extra layer or something, watch someone is going to copy my idea and become a millionaire smile

I know this is a dumb idea...but it might work instead of hood pins. You guys know on a tonneau (sp?) cover on trucks? The soft kind I mean, is 'snapped' to a frame that is connected to the bed. Well, whats to say you cant attatch those kind of snaps on the two corners of the hood? That way they could snap to the other connecter? Think of the snaps on jeans... confused

the problem with that is the snaps are not very strong. it works in a truck bed because the wind isn't a factor in trying to rip them off (wind flows over the bed instead of into the gaps).

in a hood, air is being forced out of the way and wind is pushing up on the hood. at freeway speeds, it would be enough to rip the hood up and maybe off.

what they really need to do is just make a carbon fiber hood that integrates the stock 'hook and latch'.

i don't see it being overly difficult to attach a metal, stock-like latch to catch the stock hook.

as far as i know, they don't make ones strong enough. besides, if they did make them that strong, what would the point be on a bed cover? you wouldnt be able to pop it off using your hands.

Thats where the crowbar comes in...lol just kidding. I agree with you, hood pins are the only logical way to go if you go Carbon Fiber hood.

I have no idea what its held on with. i mean for added securty hoodpins would be great, but i am really afraid of drilling through my hood.

its not the latch you have to worry about... its the hood pieces separating grin

take your newly installed Carbon Fiber hood out on the freeway speeds (65 or faster) and watch that puppy shake wave then come back here and reply if you feel safe WITHOUT hood pins installed

since you're placing your metal/aluminum hood with a resin/fiberglass/carbon fiber hood that can easily snap... especially with the raised hood scoop causing much more drag... its safer to install hood pins, than to have your shiny new hood fly up into your face, killing you and/or anyone else...

Richard: I remember when we stopped you put the oil in.

Tommy:well if your saying i didnt use the right kind your wrong and besides motor oil has nothing to do with this.

Richard: Well you cant latch the hood to well IF YOU DONT TAKE THE CAN OUT you waste of space.

The fastest you can legally drive around here is 100 KPH (figure that out for yourselves in MPH) but it's not that fast...and that's on the main highway. Around town I'm lucky to get out of second gear. I feel safe for now.
