The other day, I'm cruising down interstate at a very fast 15 mph in traffic when I hit a pothole. I could tell it did something to my NeoGen tires. So I pulled over and it was fucking flat. Only two months old. They measure 215/40ZR17. The profile isn't that small. And the pothole isn't even that big. It ripped a small half inch tear in the side walls. I think it was because I was going so slow that it messed up the tire. If I'd be going faster I would have flown over it.
Can I get the state of VA to pay for the cost of a new tire? I believe we have a law that says potholes on federal highways are supposed to be fixed within 24 hours. If not, I'm out another $100.

if Skyla's reccomendation doesn't work I recommend this...go to the local police station and see if they can help you find or at least point you in the right direction for the laws about potholes in VA...(or look online for VA's legislative website, and find the code section)then, when you find the law, file a complaint for damages, and site the law (should be something to the tune of "O.C.V.A. ##-#-##")...file the complaint (they have forms at the courthouse)in the state court of whatever county you were going thru at the time...and that should be some sort of start...good luck

The rule with that in New York is... if you complain about damage to your car from a pothole that has already been complained about or reported, then the town is responsible. However, if this is the first time the town is hearing about it, it is not their problem.
My car might be slow, but at least it looks nice!

Could be worse.. you could have been me and have ripped two differant tires on the same side of the vehicle from just being a not so good driver.
I was one day looking for a specific store and I went around this one corner that was really oddly positioned and in result I went over and it ripped a slit in my stock GTS Yokohama's and then about a month later I was driving a buddy home and I turned to look at him and stupid me turned and I went over a curb and did the same thing..how dumb am I?
The worst part is that stock GTS Yokohama's are hard to come by and not even the Toyota dealership carried them as they were model specific tires, so the place I went to said they could order some but it would take a long time and it would have been about $300 a tire! And I needed two of them, and if they ripped that easily (I understand the first curb because it was an odd shape but not the second curb) then I don't want that kind, so I ordered some Falkens and had to wait.. they didn't come so I got a more expensive tire from Bridgestone but at the price of the Falkens, although it's not what I wanted but it works and I saved some cash.
