I have been "searching" the Ecelica forums and couldnt come up with a straight forward answer to my questions...

OK I am putting 225/40/18's on my Celica grin

and I only want to lower it like 1.5 inches
(due to the New England weather) so Hotchkis is outta the question.

So I am thinking of going with TRD Lowering Springs. However, I just called Toyota and they have a TRD coilover shock kit for $1499 eek thats crazy.

I am looking to spend UNDER $500

1. What do I have to do to lower my car 1.5 inches?
2. Where can I purchase these parts?
3. Can I get JUST TRD Lowering Springs?
4. Can I use TRD lowering springs on my STOCK struts/shocks?

PLEASE HElp ME!!!! confused

coilovers are completely different from just the trd springs.

They're idiots. Call them back and tell them you want JUST THE SPRINGS. And, yes, you can use your stock struts on the trd springs.

They're only $190 at Claremont Toyota.

i suggest you get the shock and spring combo...less money for installation and alignment...try to avoid putting the spring in pay for install, then align car, then later on put shocks in,pay for install, then align car.

carson and northridge toyota can let go a combo for 500 even+shipping. but if you don't have the money now then the spring should last you awhile till you need to get shocks replaced...how old are your shocks? if they are more than 60K you might want to get the combo... thumbsup

btw-unless you're really serious about Performance...coilovers are an overkill.

Good point. Especially if your car is a little older, might be worth it to get the struts, too, and save on double-installation like ct said. thumbsup

SO I can get TRD lowering Springs and struts in a package? then get shocks later on? where can I purchase this package?

I have 66K on my shocks/struts right now...

and that will run me like $500 with out installation cost?

Just making sure I understand correctly smile

they're using the term "shocks" interchangeably with "struts." In fact, the celica uses struts, not shocks, but that's just semantics.

With that many miles, you should get both the springs and the struts, and yes, it will cost you about $500 for both, WITHOUT installation. rice

See you keep saying springs but Toyota keeps saying Shocks confused

HE (toyota dude) told me I can get a TRD lowering spring and shock package for $560

EDIT: I always thought, Shocks were in the back and Struts were in the front

SOrry if I am being a pain, I just wanna make sure I am ordering the right thing...

Sara, no bother at all. Actually, the location has nothing to do with what defines a shock or a strut. A vehicle utilizing shock absorbers could theoretically drive with NO SHOCKS whatsoever (thought it would be quite dangerous). Struts, on the other hand, are structural and therefore more expensive than shocks. Do a google search to read more about the differences between the two. But bottom line, the celica has struts, not shocks thumbsup
