i'm willing to bet that theres engine damage as well...

i wouldnt be surprised if your valve's and valvesprings are bent to shit, and your pistons are fucked up.

similar thing happened to me about 10 days ago... i was driving maybe at 70-75 and im in 3rd gear and go to put it into 4th but i missed and slipped it into second and gave it a decent amount of gas before i let the clutch all the way out and the RPMs shot up to 8,000... prolly went higher but the gauge stopped there. i went about 50 more feet and my engine started tugging weird and the check engine light came on and we had it towed.

we took it to dealer and they said timing chain snapped so they shippedi t out to the toyota factory to be examined and they told me i need a new short block, pistons, heads, and crankshaft and it looked like a stick of dynamite went off in the engine... so my car is still under warrenty and they are fixin it for free and i should have my car back in 3-4 weeks

Something don't seem right here. Why at 120mph would you be shifting down into 4th. 4th gear redlines at about 120mph, so thats one good way to fuck your clutch and engine for a start.

Now my other question is how the hell can you miss 4th and go into 2nd. You'd have to tug the stick a fair way over to engage 2nd, unless you thought 4th was where 2nd is.

Seems a little crazy. I suppose it could have been worse. You could have slammed it in to reverse rofl rofl

He seems kinda lucky to me.

It's most likely just his engine, and his clutch assembly.

The reason his RPM's shot up is because his clutch didn't grab, and he most likely burnt his clutch to shit, not to mention, his engine is most likely fucked.

You are lucky that your clutch didn't catch. Otherwise, you would be out a tranny.

But, I would rather be out a tranny than an engine.

If the dealer just said that it's your tranny, then I go elsewhere.

Your oil light doesn't go on if you mis-shift and your tranny fucks up.

Also, in order to slow down, ever hear of engine braking, or putting the car into neutral, or even the brake itself?

Downshifting in order to slow down is pretty fucking stupid.

It isn't stupid at all. But you gotta know what you're doing. On a steep and long decline (going down a mountain or something) you should use the engine to hold your speed because the brakes get really really hot if you use them all the time. Another example: If you see a red light ahead, just release the throttle and downshift (1 gear at a time of course) untill you are almost at a stop (saves fuel and brakes).
