TRD EXHAUST + AEM CAI QUESTIONS

Due to all of shit iv read online about the TRD EXHAUST and AEM CAI, i want them both, right now.

QUICK QUESTIONS :

1. DO THE SOUND/PERFORMANCE GAINS really make the difference and is it worth the 700+ cash for both products. fuck it, im gonna get it anyway, but you tell me.

2. I live in CT and drive to upstate new york for school. Should HYDROLOCK be an important issue here. I'm asking this because i dont know SHIT about hydrolock and what it really does to an engine other than fuck it up.

3. AEM is better than Injen in the torque aspect, so im going with that, my final question is...
Short Ram worse in performace due to HEAT SOAK vs CAI and its HYDROLOCK problems. ENLIGHTEN ME

I have that combo. I like it, they work together for more performance...my car started kicking harder in low RPMs once I got the CAI...

THe sound is definitely better. I think it's worth it.

Hydrolocking is over-rated, from what I heard. I haven't driven in anything really crazy yet, but I have driven in rain without problems. You need to submerge your filter to hydrolock.

and to enlighten you, hydrolock is when your filter sucks water into your engine causing too much pressure and causing pretty bad damage.

Go with a CAI

I have both those mods.. I am very happy with them.. Hydrolock is a joke, because you have to dunk the front end in water to suck air up, I know about 30 guys who have the Intake, and no on I know (or they know, or they know etc..) has every had hydrolock.. I heard of ONE guy, who literally drove his car into 3 feet of water and tried to gun it through, he is the only dumbass I have ever heard of who hydrolocked because of his CAI. if you are concerned buy the stop valve for the Intake at the same time (it's cheap). IMO a shortram isn't even worth the money, you arn't doing much, sometimes even making you engine shut down in the summer if you ildle too long.

These were the first (and so far the best) mods that I did. I love them both, they sound awesome, and I live in vancouver BC where it rains almost everyday. to hydrolock you literally have to put the entire Intake filter underwater and step on the gas. for the car to suck water up into the engine.

THANX GUYS..appreciate the feedback. Now im def convinced about those 2 mods. Gonna get em soon!!!

2 more questions if you dont mind

1. HOW IS THE INSTALL of the AEM CAI. Anything need to be cut..how much time would it take..what needs to be disconnected. Should i do it myself or go to somebody, i really dont have much experience with this.

2. SHOULD I install my TRD exhaust myself? it looks really easy but im concerned about WARRENTY SHIT. Should i got to a toyota dealership and do have them do it or should i say FUCK IT and do it my self.

thanx again. love this car, its fuckin great. i really want to mod it so it has exactly 200 hp. ( i love my gts )

peace

not to dog anything , but i believe for a manual, Injen CAI is the way to go. as for hydrolocking, tape ur wheel well if your worried(there are slots) and get a splash guard. i've heard much that the flange doesnt work on celica's. as for TRD exhuast, it is (from what i've seen/heard) the best gains, but as for sound its pretty weak(unless you take ur resonator off). i live in kc, MO and get a decent amount of rain and snow and havent had any probs (had my Injen CAI for 30k miles and not one prob). hope this helps.

to install the CAI youre going to have to cut a hole in your fender well lining (is that what its called? that plastic part between the engine and the wheel well place? something like that)...and all those tubes are a bitch. if youre not experienced with this sort of thing i would suggest getting it done professionally...i did...
