I just installed these generic headers that I bought of e-bay. My car sounds like a tractor. It ony does it when I'm diving; it doesn't do it if I rev my engine in neutral. It may be an exhaust leak. Has anyone else had this problem with headers? Also, do you think Toyota will give me a hard time if I bring it to them? I hate the sound it's so bad... please help

That's what you get for buying generic headers off of ebay. If you are going to mod, do it right. That means no generic crap off ebay. I do not think it is an exhaust leak, you would be able to hear it at idle and if you rev the engine. My guess is, it's the header. How much did you pay, can you get your money back? Do you drive a GT or GTS?

I just put a header on my car, and I love the way it sounds. Not like a tractor at all.

I payed 250. If I cant fix it I'm gonna try to get my $$ back. What headers do you have and how much were they? My problem is that I don't have enough money for like $800 headers.

I'm guessing that you have a GTS. Whats the new word on the OBX header? There has been some talk about obx, do some searching around on forums, you'll find tons of info. Look for group buys and whatnot for discounted prices. I have a GT, so I have the Hotshot Header, paid 350 with shipping.

Do you notcie any gains?

so far Trial is the only header for the GTS that I would get. (I have a GT... which is why I have a hotshot on the way). a Header is a very tricky thing, since the idea is to twist the pipes in a way that maximizes air flow and prevents a bottleneck in the exhaust, if air flow is not carfully ballanced and done right, you will get a power loss (like the TRD header gives you in the low end, according to the dynos I have seen). In the future, I would NEVER buy off ebay, I would never buy generic, and I would carefully research any mod you do. I have heard of guys dumping over 5K in performance parts into their cars and having them dyno below stock when all is said and done.

Actually, its defnetly a problem with a pulley cause it sounds like a bicycle with baseball cards attached to the spokes. It's probably due to my recent collision with a telephone pole. Shouldn't have been speeding on an icy curve ($12,000 of damage). Anyway I'll bring it to Toyota tomorrow.
