Is it true that Fiber Images Carbon Fiber hoods don't need hood pins 'cuz they use a latch that is just as strong as the stock latch?

I've been running mine since June of 03 without hood pins. I like the clean look better. Anyways... (knock on wood) nothing has happened yet.

Does it come with a warranty or a certificate where it says that hood pins aren't necessary? My tax refund gets here in 4-5 weeks, so I'm thinking of buying one 'cuz they claim that you don't need hood pins, so I like how it looks clean.

You might want to get them. They are cheap and they will save you tons of money if for some reason your hood did blow open.

Alot of people like the way they look too.
Example: Some ricer at my buddy's HS glued some on his stock Ford Focus hood. He also has been known to put decals on his car for companies that he hasn't purchased mods from, including some companies that don't make products for his car.

I'd say get em. I probably will if I ever get a Carbon Fiber hood.

There's no guarantee. You are running a risk. Whether or not you wanna take that risk is up to you, but personally I wouldn't; it's just not worth it should the ufortunate happen.

actually I don't believe hood pins are as necessary with the FiberImages hoods. If you get VIS, then of course you need them but the latch that comes with the former hood is supposed to be all you need.

You can get a good look at a T-bone steak by sticking your head up a bull's ass but wouldn't you rather take the butchers word for it grin What's this shit about VIS needing hood pins? The company says you don't need 'em and if their hoods really did have a tendancy to fly up ya think they might recommend a set of cheap hood pins????
I might pick up a set before summer just cause I drive more but whatev.

Refer to my post Here to see what I've been up to.

Question about hoodpins though. Why the hell did the green Eclipse in F&F have those rope things on the hoodpins that went under the engine? confused Never could figure that out.

how often do you drive over 100mph? If you don't spend a lot of time at high speeds, you really don't need hood pins.

LOL, I don't go over 85mph. I guess that I might not need them, but it wouldn't hurt to have extra insurance.

Here you go. The top is what the actual color really looks like.. the bottom one got some glare from the sunlight and made it look more yellowish than it really is.
