hey guys. well after i got my car i wanted to do a little experiment.

first full tank of gas-car had regular oil, regular oil filter, played with lift at times...result: 279miles/11.9 gallons= 23.45 miles per gallon

second full tank of gas-changed to synthetic oil (royal purple) and all fluids, put in trd drop in filter, put in k and n Performance gold filter, drove 3-4 times using lift...result: 280 miles/ 11.5 gallons= 24.35 miles per gallon

Third full tank of gas-raised tire pressure, never drove in lift (well once..lol rofl, i couldn't resist) result:
301 miles/ 12 gallons of gas= 25.1 miles per gallon.

...now that i added a trd exhuast, i want to see if i gain or lose from it. be back in a week to post results. again this was made on a GTS...GT models will seriously garner better results! thumbsup rice

I can't really see how the GT and GTS would vary much at all in gas consumption, true differant engines, power and such but the GTS's extra power doesn't do much unless you're in high RPM.

None the less, the best results for gas consumption are just to drive by the book.

my GT got and average of 335miles at 11 gallons...that's 30 miles per gallon. 3 miles per gallon higher than what is stated at product specs of 27 mpg. just ease off the gas and stp driving it like you stole it. it made the hugest difference! thumbsup

and yes...keeping away from lift is like giving up sex... rofl

I have Auto GT and it is 29.5... I drive normally. Mine is still new (only 3000 miles). Don't know if it matters.

GTS

I lift DAILY. After it warms up, I run the engine to 5K rpm when shifting.

Love that sound.

I get about 23-25, on the highway on Chevron with Techron I've gotten upwards of 37 mpg.

It all depends on the brand of gas, we have oxygenated gas in Maryland, which lowers emissions by 10%, but lowers gas mileage by 15%, so the net effect is 5% more emissions, go goverment bean counters!

I use Mobil 1 5W30 and K&N Gold Line Filter, toyota air filter. thumbsup

Tell us what happens. Right now, I'm getting about 30mpg, I commute 20miles a day. It's mixed between highway and side-streets. I'd prolly get more if it were most on highways.

Last two tanks were averages of 24.7 and 23.9 for me, with an auto GTS. Your experiment is interesting... but just remember that your mileage depends more on where you drive than anything else. If you are a on the highway 60% of the time on one tank then on the city street 60% of the time on the next, it's going to make a huge difference.

the best speeds to cruise at that save gas are 60km/h and 110km/h...try it! This weekend, driving to Ottawa and back at a solid 110, I got over 650km on a full tank.

this is no longer a guys hobbie.

i imagine with the Performance mods it saves you more gas~
results in more gas milage~ because you dont have to step on the gas as hard to get to the speed you want...

just my theory...never tested tho~

it depends what Performance mods you get. but i see what you're saing...performance mods that free up hp "should" help with mileage...

yup~ the ones that "free up" hp should help the mileage

but the ones that "force out" hp will harm the mileage.

No one mentioned rims and tires. There are some tires that give better MPG. And the rims also have an impact on MPG.

For example: Last week I changed back to my summer tires (205/50/16) and now I have an MPG of 29. Before, with my M+S tires I had like 24 MPG.

I made all 330 miles from Orange County to Lake Havasu, AZ on a tank in my car... not bad for an auto gts.
