Celica Forums General Discussion General 1-2 shift grind

Ok, i bought my car used and it had 24000 in it.every time i would try to shift into 2nd at high rpms (8000) it would grind. the car was still under warranty so i took it in and they gave me a new tranny.this did not solve the problem though...every time i try to shift to 2nd it will not go in, i just get that high pitch grind noise . now if i shift slower it will go in,of course the rpms drop to around 7800 making it impossible to hit lift in 2nd. has anyone else experienced this problem? im getting so frustrated that ive been thinking about getting a honda at least i know i can hit 2nd every time.

I have the same problem...I too would like to know what I can do. My warranty runs out in a very short time. (1000 miles) . So, any advice anyone can offer would help the both of us!

I was having that problem...and put in aluminum direct shift bushings...from kumosport.com...I think the whole thing cost me like $30 to do, and now it shifts much firmer (if that's the word), and I haven't had any trouble since...hope this helps

Redline MT90 Manual Transmition/Manual Transaxle Fliud.. Buy three quarts. And some use some white lythium(sp?) grease on the linkage.. after about hundred miles with the MT90 in your tranny the probably should be fixed... I havn't had any grinding problems since I did this.

if ya got a new tranny doubt it is the tranny's fault. Sounds like a shifting fault or problem with linkages.
