I got a speeding ticket last night for going 48 in a 25. There is no way i was going that fast though. What do you think will happen? I am i minor so i have to go to court. Is there anything i can do to get out of it? Lastly, what will hapen to my insurance?

well, i don't know how it goes in ohio [sorry, checked your profile] but i do know [in terms of where i live which is in new jersey] if you plead guilty in court you might be able to reduce the number of points to none to 1 or 2 that are put on your license and you'll have to pay fines. in terms of insurance, it'll go up. no escaping that. sorry man.

word of advice. if you haven't told your parents yet, they'll most likely end up knowing. because all these law firms will start sending you mail. it happened to me a couple of years back when i got caught speeding in a 65 mph zone going 90 mph. i really don't know why all these law firms started sending me stuff. i guess maybe i need a lawyer to go defend myself. i didn't go to court though and i got 4 points put on my license. and insurance skyrocketed. frown

good luck man..

if you were speeding, you were speeding. no two ways about it regardless of ur real speed...insurance will go up. just use it as a learning experince.

Off topic... I was speeding yesterday, on a open road right by this lake... and well there was this cyclist infront of me and a car comming on the opposite side and i thought i would be able to pass the biker...but the car on the other side was going to slow so i couldnt make the change, So i had to slow from around 90 to a stop, and my brakes locked and i slid, sqeeling tires, i never even thought to honk, and almost hit this guy (i felt so bad, knowing i could have been in his place, being that im an avid cyclist also) i layed these big ass tire marks, kinda spooky, ill get some pictures of them and post them later...

hire a lawyer . recently i got a 93 in a 60 ticket. i hired one of the top lawyers in the state, and went to coart to fight it. the ticket was TOTALLY removed from my record, and i had to pay NOTHING. just some lawyer bills. you can get off the ticket if you get a good enough lawyer. and dont worry about the price of the lawyer, because it will nomatter what be way less than the speeding fine, and insurance.
