anybody current on what trd is up too?

there is the 1.8 liter supercharger available but doesn't fit inside our engine bays. but, someone said trd might be working on a new hood that could be implemented to allow clearance...

anybody have any inside info to share?

E

Last I knew there wasnt a hood available...though someone does have the supercharger but also has a king sized hole in their hood to fit it.

all that uglyness, and I doubt that car is much faster than a GTS.

SC's generally don't add a lot of HP, 60HP tops. spineyes

As you can see by the posted pics it does not work. If TRD is in R&D over this issue (which I doubt) it will be some time before we see any results.

Based on those pics alone I don't see how they could pull it off. Theres just no room for it, Turbo or Nitrous seems to be are only forced induction options.

I honestly think that we can put our hopes of more TRD Performance parts to rest. With the 7th gen on it's way out and the 8th gen having far more HP with a different powerplant, they're not going to waste time on a D/C car.

the pic with the bubble on the hood is the blitz supercharger not the TRD one, anyone else notice that? the blitz one fits in under the hood.

Plus the TRD S/C doesn't stick out far that the one shown in the pic. It only sticks out 4" to 6"

well, there was a TRD kit in development, they showed it at SEMA a while back, but toytota still hasn't decided to put it into mass production. it's for the 1ZZ

you can view a detailed thread about it at this link:

https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/thread.f_231545_0_collapsed_5__1.html

and below is a pic. you need to cut a small hole in the factory hood to clear the SC, and it's covered up by a custom cowl that attatches to the hood to give you the extra 3-4 inches of hood clearance required...

The TRD kit also showed off the widebody kit they were developing. lots of exterior and under-hood pics are in the thread linked above. as i said, toyota is still undecided about releasing it to the public, but they have been doing lots of development on the project. I bet it will come out eventually (once all those warranties start running out, that is!)

The search button is your friend grin

um, can't really tell from the pix. it looks like an anamorphic (widescreen) pix squeezed to fill a standard screen. but it's all cute and all. kinda like a midget celica. spineyes rofl

I would have to say TRD (not to disown my own car's racingteam) but they are really lame... they make more Performance parts for a dinky little corrola than they do for their top sports car. Whats the point of making a supercharger for a Wagon and a economy car? I know the engines are the same but still. A 3rd party parts maker has something that TRD cant accomplish... A cold air Intake.
I love TRD but sometimes they are just stupid
