Just got my windows retinted on Friday after an attempted break in last year left me windowless, and I got a damn ticket today driving to work. I dont know how the hell he saw them cause i put them up while i was directly behind him about 4 or 5 cars back. He said if he ever caught me again he was gonna impound my car. GET A LIFE!!!!!!!! Go pick on a drunk driver or bust a crack house and leave me alone!!!!

they cannot impound your vehicle for tinted windows on a first or even second offense... or even third. You can ask the officer for the violation code that permits him to IMPOUND your vehicle for tinted windows - ask him to write it down on the backside of his business card grin

did you get a fix-it ticket or an actual citation?

if it was fix-it, you have 30 days to remove the tint and get it inspected by the station that gave you the ticket.

if you have a citation, you'll have 60 days to take care of it - wait until the last few days before its due and get it extended another 30 days, putting you at 90 days before it needs to get paid (about 3 months). save the ticket in your car for if you get pulled over again during those 90 days - it will keep you from getting another citation. The ticket will NOT go on your driving record as points - so no need for traffic school because it wasn't a moving violation.

With a fix-it ticket, you will have to take the day off from work to remove your tint and pay someone for that. Then schedule an appointment to have your vehicle inspected and pay another amount for that (usually $10 to $25 - sometimes free, depending on the station) - all within 30 days... then you will have to take another day off from work to go get your tint put back on.

With an actual citation, you will be charged between $35 and $74 for the ticket - it will not need to be paid within 90 days (pay it online with CC) and you do NOT have to remove your tint grin

What Isaac said about the impound is true in most places, but if you act like a dick during a stop, the cop will give you grief. "You want the #, here"

"Oh, and btw, here's a ticket for 41 in a 40, failure to use signal, agressive driving, loud music, exhaust, car too low, mirror not clear enough, spoiler too high"

They all might be bogus, but you'll have to deal with them all.

The cops nowadays are above the law. I had one RIDE MY ASS on the highway while I was doing 65 int he middle lane, so I slammed on my brakes, he does too, turns on his lights, pulls me over, and then speeds off. I called the station, reported it, and they told me "that car is parked outside, sorry"

Liars.

yeah, I'm not a fan of the police either...tint laws are crazy. I used to live in Florida, and the cops were cool with it, but then I moved to ATL, and got yanked all the time!!!! I haven't tinted the celica yet, but I had 2.5% tint on my last vehicle, and it was so damn dark I had to roll down the window to see at night...no problems in florida, but forget that in ATL.

I'm getting ready to tint my celica, and am thinking about black with a darker black tribal design in the tint...I'm just not looking forward to the police...they already give me tons of attention as it is.

yea i got pulled over on the interstate for my tint...it would cost me more to pay the ticket and get the windows re-tinted then to just leave them tinted. So i am just like f''k it. Ill pay the ticket and keep cruising. You would think cops would have something more important to do than pull someone over for tint.

its becomming pretty obvious that they dont. ive gotten 2 other ones, one with the celica and one with another car in like 3 years. the first one i was parked in a parking lot. the second one i was driving with windows down the whole time but he followed me into my work lot cause he had seen my windows at a car show in town and made me put the windows up and busted me.
