My brother's '91 Celica went nuts on us this morning. Unfortunately the problem is electrical, an area in which I have no knowledge. Anyway, here's the deal, and maybe some of you car audio or alarm guys will know what to do:

He took out his amp and subs a while ago, but the wires are still all there. So they're driving down the road this morning and my sister yanks on a couple of the wires (specifically the wires that used to run from the amp to the subs) and the radio and A/C immediately shut off, and haven't been revived yet. I think she touched the wires together and shorted a fuse, but that's just a wild guess; and even if I'm right, I wouldn't have a clue which fuse to replace anyway.

Any help is appreciated.

sounds like you blew the fuse. In fith gens, the stereo, cig lighter, and clock run off one fuse. It shouldent of shorted, because BEFORE yourt borther pulled the amp, he should have disconnected the (+) pole from the batt.
Only other thing I can think of is the (+) and (-) speaker or co-ax cables touched, or they touched chasis ground. That would immediatly and irreparibly blow the internal amp in the deck.

Yea either you blew a fuse...or those wires are still grounding each other out somewhere...either way it will screw stuff up...

Check all the fuses...in the car and under the hood if there are some there...and make sure all the wires are taped off that are still back there thumbsup

Thank you sir. I'll replace that fuse and see if that's what it is.

And I'm sure he disconnected the + terminal before taking all his stuff out, even I know to disconnect the + terminal before doing anything. grin And I suck with electronics.

Although I did install my rev/speed meter.

Thank you for the quick reply!
