Seeing as how I can't find any good '00+ Celica GTS's in Oklahoma...what car should I get for performance? I want to try to spend as little as possible, preferably 12k or less. Any suggestions?

Only if its a VR4. If your looking for something fast, look into a DSM. DSM is the company that manufactured Eclipses and Talons from 1990 to 1999. Get either a Talon TSI AWD or a Eclipse GSX. They have so many mods to make them faster and there already pretty quick stock. A friend of mine has a 1990 Talon TSI with maybe a grand invested into it. He already runs 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. I definetly reccomend them. thumbsup

for cheep acceleration that will rip your face off there is no substitute for a eclipse GSX (91 is the best) or talon TSI. my friend runs 13.2 1/4mile with intake, exhaust, clutch, and ECU upgrade.

was....5speed with i/h/e
15.41 @ 89.30mph 2.282 60'

is....04 srt4 stock
13.936 100.15mph 2.177 60'

'99 honda accord v6.

super reliable (will run for 300,000 miles if its a typical honda), good performance (v6), super cheap mods, awesome selection of mods to choose from.

'nuff said.

I'd rather get a Civic HB and do an engine swap. But I really, really want a car that looks good and I really want a Celica, but there are only two 6-speed GTSs for sale in OK and they both aren't up to par. =(

many dealerships have multiple car lots in multiple states. check & see if they have a celica gts elsewhere.

also, try ebay motors or autotrader.com or other local websites that offer classified car ads.

local mags such as news on wheels and steels & deals also are a good place to look.

If you really can't find a Celi, look for a 1999+ Eclipse GT. They aren't super-fast, but they look fairly nice and are new. I always cringe when people compare the 7th gen Celi to cars built in the early to mid 90s. Anything that old will get to be a pain soon.

Since you are in the part of the country that I know is "American-pride" land when it comes to cars, there are probably tons more domestic cars than imports. If you can't find a nice current model Celica or Eclipse... why not look into a Mustang GT that is a few years old? They don't handle as well, but have a ton of power. If you get one from someone who isn't a racer kid, it should still be in good shape.

Yeah, I'm just supposed to be looking now, but might get it early. It's intended as a graduation present. It's just that I'm very impatient and want a car now... cry I'll wait it out though and see if anything good comes along. If worse comes to worse, I might just get one in the Dallas area.

dude..
you must not have looked THAT hard..
go to the dealership in norman, on the mile of cars, walk in, tell them what you want, and they'll find you one from one of their other dealerships in a different state.
i went in and told them what i wanted, (2004 auto GT solar yellow) and they ended up getting one from Alabama. delivered right to my house within a few days.
yea, i live in oklahoma too tongue
