Has anyone installed a Carbon Fiber hood or did you have the bodyshop do it?? Is it hard or no? Thanks.

I had a body shop do it. I think a lot of the bad things you hear about Carbon Fiber hoods is just because the person that put it on didn't know what they were doing... Just be safe and have a professional do it...

Personally, I would have a shop do it as well.

you paid a shop to install a hood?????

i installed the hood within 10 minutes with my dad's help holding the hood up.

and then installing the hoodpins took me like 30-45 minutes because i was checking and double checking where i was going to drill and then i cleaned it up with a dremel tool.

its easy.. just take your time drilling thru the carbon fiber hood.

yea deffinetly ,the $25 investment for hood pins is worth it

and

install is easy as poo if you have a friend or two to hold it while you tighten the bolts to make it easier

hoodpins can be done yourself easily too if you can use a drill

this works too, but i used paint , you can also use white out, make sure you have a good amount of blob of paint/white out on the end of the hood pin rods.
do a search of where to drill in the frame for the hood pins.
make sure the hood pin rods stick out enough so that it will touch the hood when you lower the hood down on it, tighten the rods down a little but keep them loose, and then drill the hood where the pins left the paint mark. first you want to drill a small pilot hole and double check again by lowering the hood back down on the hood pin rods w/ paint on the tip.
and then keep drilling and keep double checking to make sure the hood pins line up with your drilled holes. clean up the hole w/ a dremel tool and adjust the height of the rods so they stick out just enough for the slot to be used by the other half of the hood pin (the part you bolt onto the top of the hood with the small ring and locking pin).then bolt that down to the hood.
if the hood pin rods(bolted to the frame) is off by a little just bend it a bit.

sorry if it's a little confusing, just do a search on google for an installation guide and also use the ecelica guide

ditto. you should not have a carbon fiber hood without hoodpins. besides possibly losing your investment, it's dangerous for both you and the people driving around you.

if you do not install hoodpins, do everyone (and yourself) a favor and do not go onto a freeway or reach high speeds. i can't say enough how dangerous it is.

which is actually a best-case scenario. think of being highspeed on a freeway having your hood ripped off and flying into another car...it gets much, much worse

Just have a shop install it and put hoodpins on. Whats it gonna cost maybe 75 bucks. If you do it you could scratch it or mess up putting hoodpins in and have holes in your new hood.

do you need a certain drill bit and will it splinter when putting in the hood pins?

I like these better. In fact, I ordered a pair myself:
