A brake question?

On a celica the rear of the car has brake drums, which is basicly brakes on the inside of your wheel. But is it possible to change the rear brakes into caliper brakes, which are on the outside. I know anything is possible with enough money, but has anyone in this forum done that, for better braking performance? confused confused

Well, it is possible to convert a Celica GT to rear discs. You'd need several of the parts from a GTS, I don't know offhand. The conversion though doesn't offer much performance gain as the car is so light and the front brakes do most of the work. You'd be far better off just beefing up the front brakes then to worry about the back.

I'd go with a Rotora big brake kit for the fronts or get new slotted rotors, brake pads, SSBL, and caliper paint.

SSB has a conversion kit for $700. Putting disc in the rear is going to help a little, it's really more for looks. I'd go with Trial's big brake kit 'cuz they use it on their race car, so you know that it's gonna stop on a dime.

yes. even if you had a gts you would do this (most big brake kits only come for the front calipers, not the rear anyway).

i would still rather have 4 wheel disc brakes though (as all gts have) sometimes being able to stop a couple feet faster is all the difference between having to call your insurance or not.
