lexan rear window

does anybody make a lexan rear window for our car? i know they make them for almost all honda/acura's, but i cant find it for the celica. it would save a bunch of weight.

I have read about this before, on the other site... The company escapes me but I remember the price for replacing all the windows was rather hefty - $5000 to drop 50 lbs

No shit.

If you ask me, money is better spent on something like this instead of a system, or ricey appearance mods, in dash dvd players and shit like that.

If I remember correctly, on a post about the Elise, Norway said that he was gonna go for making his car as light as possible, and if he wants to do so, why not start here?

If anything, the celica could use a little MORE Weight to keep the back end planted.

ok, go put weights in your car, then go to the track wave

apparently the lexan windows are very good at sheeding water, so there is no need for window wipers... and if you use your celica at the track most often, you can get the plastic/seran wrap type window coverings, that can be peeled off when they are dirty, (such as race car drivers helments and windows) With not needing window wipers, you can drop all the motors needed for them, and the window washer fluid resevor... so thats another 10 pounds...

I do.

I put a 50lb bag of sand in the back of my car when I autox, because the backend likes to fly around.

good for you, but i dont autoX, i do 1/4 mile, and the name of the game is weight reduction, and power. the rear window of the celica weighs at least 40lbs, and the lexan one weighs under 10, thats at least 30lbs of weight reduction, i dont think its ricy. yea, if it takes .03 off my time ill be happy
