i've re-read what you said the first time and the instructions that i've given you was for AFTER you have removed the shocks from the car..yes you do have to take apart the shocks first. if you already cannot do that, you need the right tools. u'll need an air gun, and spring compressor. if you don't have those, it'd be best to take it to a shop.. a regular import shop should do it for around 70-90 bucks..for a one time suspension job, i think that's a good price..if you plan to change ur suspension over and over, then you should invest in the tools mentioned above n do it yourself whenever as many times as you want.

you do not need any air tools...

you do need a spring compressor that you can either rent or buy from pep boys or autozone for about 5 dollars and 15 dollars respectively.

this stuff is easy...

^ those are technicaly not coilovers, they're more of a sleeve type spring grin
It wouldn't hurt getting new shocks, but if you can't afford them right away you'll be fine. They'll just wear out the stock shocks a lot faster. The ride will be bumpier depending how much you drop the car. The lower you drop it the rougher the ride 'cuz the shock has less room to travel & absorb the bumps. You'll need to get new shocks sooner or later, so it's better to get everything at once, that way everything gets installed at the same time thumbsup

and how about springs, do need to buy new shocks as well or will the stock ones do well enough. I heard that coilovers gives a better handling than springs. Is that true?

coillovers are better (and much more expensive)

you can use aftermarket springs with your stock shocks..but they will only last an average of a year before you have to replace them (BUT, that is a year you get to save for them). almost any aftermarket spring you get will be stiffer, and your stock shocks aren't meant to take the extra abuse.
