Attn footwell neon people!

I have read several posts about footwell neons all of which sound like they have put them in using the cig lighter as the power source. None of these post are very detailedwtf . If one of you could please put up a step by step on putting in neons with power from the cig lighter that would be awsome, the more detail the better! goodjob
Pics would be great too thumbsup

What I did was go to my local automotive store and pick up one of these ...

Linked Image

I put this in plase of the cig fise and then ran this to a switch (optional) under the dash where you see those two little pop-out blocks.

Linked Image

I then just zip-tied the neon tubes up out of the way to existing wire under the dash. I used 15" neon tubes.

As for the power wires they all went to the switch so i can turn the neons on and off. And as for the ground wires...there is a grounding block behind the driver side kick-plate above all that electronic stuff...cant miss it, there are a bunch of white wires with black strips going to it.

I'll try to take some pics later tonight...unless someone else beats me to it.

grin

Hopefully you get the idea though.

i have 4 neons under my car and 4 in my car (2 under dash and 2 under seats) all wired into a remote switch on my keychain that works up to 100 feet away. i first bought the undercar kit from theneonedge.com with the remote and then bought the 4 under seat lights from them. all i had to do was plug it into the source, which is under the Hood, with a clip they give you (very easy). if you have the money that's what i would recommend. it is very conveniant.

I need help on this wiring thing. I've been using the cigarette lighter. So after you cutting off the cigarette plugged-in from the neon, how you go about using the add-a-circuit thingy? 'Cause after cutting the cigarette plug, I don't know which is postive and which is neg. The copper wire = positive and silverish wire = negative?? Are those add-a-circuit = positive (12V)?? and for negative, i have to find a ground location?

Life is like a dream...Hopefully when you wake up it isn't like mine.

Yes for all the electricaly illiterate people ...

The fuse block gives out +12 to +14 volts DC

So you hook the power wire into the fuse block.
As for a ground there are plenty of grounding screws in the compartment.
Ground wires are white with a black stripe on them. usually there are a bunch of them tied together at a collection box. This box is then attached via screw or bolt to the car frame.

For grounding locations look

https://www.celicahobby.com/tech/tsb2/DIAGRAMS_GROUNDING_ENGINE.gif

https://www.celicahobby.com/tech/tsb2/DIAGRAMS_GROUNDING_OVERVIEW.gif

This fuse block in the picture is located on the passenger side footwell .. remove the round plastic cover from the center console.
Also look in the manual, that's why you have it.

For fuse block diagrams look

https://www.celicahobby.com/tech/tsb2/ARTICLE_FUSEBLOCK_DIAGRAM.pdf

Most neons come with a either of the following wire color pairs.

black wire and black wire with white stripe

or

clear/blueish wire and a clear/blueish wire with silver stripe

The wire with the stripe is the ground wire.
The wire without the stripe is the power wire.
