Hi everyone. I'm brand new to this website... it looks fantastic.

I'm seriously thinking about buying my first new car soon, and I want it to be the '05 Celica. Of course, I have no idea what they will look like, but I love the current design and I'm sure they'll be tight.

I understand that there are rumors that the car won't even exist. I don't believe them. Here's my question...

When can we expect to see a 2005 Celica in showrooms? Or even, when can we expect to see pictures of them?

What month does Toyota typically release the following model years? Thanks!

because the 2005 are mostly redesigned, I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think during spring, we could start to see pics of some of the 05 models...
such as the 2005 NY Auto Show is usually when most 2005 models for manufacturers are released..but we will see...

and i'm not completely sure, it's a new gen, so i suspect it's already made, but in the hiding...because at an auto show is when manufacturers want to let the news out, instead of hiding it...

it's not definite yet, but i'll keep everyone imformed on it, my dad doesn't even know anything yet. idunno

Exactly what he said...except we all know your dad knows the new celica will be yet another joint venture with pontiac and be a sunfire/celica hybrid... rofl

I work for a toyota dealer and have heard nothing of a redesigned celica. From what I understand it will be same as this one just 2005. However I have a meeting with my dealer rep next week and I will be sure to ask him about that.

I doubt it will be the same as now...just an 05. It's going to be a TOTAL redesign...new look...new engine(?)...new everything. Every generation has been so drastically changed. Most cars you can still they are a 'mustang'...or a 'sunfire'...but with celica? If you didnt know any better, you wouldnt know a 4th from a 5th from a 7th. thumbsup

With the Celica, 4 RUNNER, Tacoma, Land Cruiser Toyota does not have a 5 yr rule like on the camry or corolla or avalon so there is no guarantee they will redesign them especially since according to toyota this celica has been somewhat of a failure.

Billy has been right a lot of times. I trust him when he says things about the celica. Celica has usually changed every 5 years or so. And it is a full redesign.

it was 94-98...

Toyota discontinued the Celica in end of 98 and in most of 99, until they released the new generation

If you didnt know any better, you wouldnt know a 4th from a 5th from a 7th. thumbsup

it's a full redesign thumbsup
Billy has been right a lot of times. I trust him when he says things about the celica. Celica has usually changed every 5 years or so. And it is a full redesign.

it was 94-98...

Toyota discontinued the Celica in end of 98 and in most of 99, until they released the new generation
it was early 99 when it was discontinued I think...but it still doesn't really count as a full year.

"In 1998 Toyota dropped the base model ST, and dealers received fewer (if any) Celicas. The speculation at the time was that the entire Celica line would be dropped."

my point is proven, you can't consider the 99 year an actual year for the celica, in 98 they killed it, only few to get around in 99 until they dropped it while working on the 2000 model.

You are correct there was limited production however the fact that ther was a 99 is all that needs to be said. Toyota could concievably do the same thing here. Which would mean we would not see a new celica till 2006.

Here in Belgium the 6th gen ended in 1999 and the 7th gen started in october 1999 (GT)(guess you guys had to wait till 2000)(for the GTS it was 2000).
The 7th gen celica will end this year in Belgium. I know this for sure because the celica will become illegal to be selled (new emission rules, even more strict than in the USA).
But I don't know if there will be a new celica in 2005. The toyota dealer doesn't know either but suspects that the celica will be discontinued at least for a while (here in Belgium).

I'll try to find out too...i know this dude...his dad owns a celica dealership in NJ... rofl

---EDIT---
I found this...
This from the latest issue of Automobile Magazine:

The new model will continue the Back to Basics Philosophy-so far, all wheel drive is not in the cards. The reception to the current model's styling has been lukewarm, however, so Toyota's designers are investigating themes that are a 180 degree turn of those of the present car. US input, so critical in the styling of the current Celica, is rumoured to be of only secondary concern, to the product development team, a slap on the hands for the US studio. Release date is slated for late 2004 as a 2005 model.

Bat-

Toyota should introduce the celica at Auto Show showrooms pretty soon. if car was already designed and all, it should be available for the public to view during April. Think about Solara, they had redesigned it and it was all a secret until April which was debuted at an auto show. so im hoping for it to release somtime in the next 2 months maximum. it better be better than the current ones.

Perfect! If I like the new look, I'll be the first the buy a 2005. I always wanted to drive around in a brand-spankin' new model. If I don't like the look, the 2004's will be dirt cheap. I'll buy one of those and save thousands. Its win-win smile

technically, the 7th gen has been out since 99. Some celicas have assembly dates of 11/99, 12/99 so it's 6 years tongue

Search for the automotive news article, toyota confirmed the redesign, but said nothing else.

O.K. everything else is just a rumor.

I spoke at length today with one of the sales reps from toyota and he said "There are no plans for a redesigned Celica for 2005". Now that does not mean that mid 2005 there will not be a redesigned 2006 but 2005 will not be redesigned.
