A month ago I bought Unorthodox SS pulleys for my GTS. Less than two weeks later, I found the crank pulley had been wobbling on the crank. After I pulled the pulley off I found the pulley was shot and the key was twisted inside the keyway. I contacted UX. and the guy I talked gave me nothing but BS. I had to ship the pulley back to UX. for them to "evaluate" it. Two weeks later I called them back to see what they found. Again more BS. The jackass I talked to (Joe) tried to blame it on the impact, the crank bolt and me. The bottom line: I spent $360 on some new paperweights for the shop and have to spend a hell of a lot more to replace my crank. [Mad]

the shop that did your installation... do they warranty their work?

how many other celica pulley kits have the guys at that shop installed?

what is their history on working with new cars (years 1998 and newer)... and specially, what their history with import cars???

Have other people also had the same problems with UX pulleys?

...

There is an issue of TORQUE / tightening the pulley assembly and correctly setting the belt's tension... if any of this is off, it will destroy the rest of these mechanical pieces.

...

The pulley kit is simply a balanced metal part that rotates a properly tensioned belt to transfer power (by constant rotation) from your alternator to the various parts of your engine. Its actually quite simple once you see exactly the pieces involved

...

The AEM Tru-Power Pulley Kit includes pretty much the same parts... here are a few photos of this:

Subject: UX Pulley

The shop that I purchased the pulley set from is owned by a friend of mine. I installed the pulley kit myself. The crank bolt was tightened down with an impact. The guy from UX said that the only way for this to of happened would be if the bolt wasn't tight. At first he told me that mine was the only one. After argueing with him for about a half an hour he said that there were other pulleys that had the same problem. He claimed that the other ones were from poor inst. also.

I've have some friends w/UX installed and no problem they've had, it's been almost 1yr.
I was planning to get one for myself.

It could be a factory damage or improper installation

if the problem is only the key it can be fixed at a good machine shop.but if the problem is internal because of the crank not being balanced as a result of the wobbling pulley it will have to be replaced or remachined as a compromise.

Sounds like a poor installation though. There are several people that have the pullies on forums, and I'm sure there are many out there not on forums that have them. If UR had such problems, they would stop producing them. Also notice how this user posts once? They are probably just going around spreading rumors. You can't always believe someone on a forum.
