The 03 have gone back to the 8400 rev.. On newcelica.org they have the wiring for the 02 conversion. Is it safe for the 02 GTS to rev to 8400 or should we avoid this...????

i thought the 02 can only rev up too 7800 then it stays there???

correct the 00,01,and 03 have 8400 rev lim. and the 02 is only 7800

I think what he's asking is...if he converted his to the '01,'00, and '03 revlimiter. Would it be safe. I think it would...but i don't know.

oh my bad read it wrong...i wouldn't see why it wouldn't work i was told all thats different is the valve spring or something like that. i mean its the same engine

if you correctly install an ecu (not a 2002 one of course) and knock sensor into an 02, i believe it would be okay.

I was going to use a 00 ECU and knock sensor like newcelica.org has listed to do... I just dont want to over rev my motor if it cant take it.

It can take it, it's the same motor. Plenty have done it, it works fine. But the higher you rev, the more you wear your engine, and since you're past your redline, you risk doing damage to your valves and rod. So ya, it can take it, but it's a form of mild abuse.

I'm not sure what your saying. My motor can take it, then you say it my harm mine sincee its past the "redlin".. If the motor is the same, and rods are the same it wont hurt it any more than a 00 doing it. Toyota was supposed to lower the rev because they were blowing motors right and left...

Well i heard that it doesn't damage your car if your racing and shifting over the 8000rpm.
But it is important not to let the car relay for too long when shifting to a higher gear, you could over-rotate the cams or bend some valves and this is exp.

Mine has that mod made and it feels F*cking good when you shift over the redline you get real [power to the wheel when it activates(vvtl-i)] thumbsup

What every we do it'll have wear on the motor..
That's even at idle..
High the rpm you do.. more wear it has on the motor...
It doesn't really mattter the readline...
Higher you go... you'll loose more realiability on the motor...

Let's say...
You rev it just before the redline... all they the time.. it'll be safe??
No way... no matter what.. it'll have wear... if you want your engine to last longer... don't push the car...

For me.. this car is more for fun... so I push it a lot of time... BUT this kind of car and motor has tendency to have better suitable for every day fun car... but at certain extents... grin
