Alright guys i need to know what i am doing wrong. Whenever i am driving for performance and downshift into "what i think" should be the right gear to be in, it makes a clunk or gear grinding noise. I could understand if it did this if i tried to shift into 2nd gear at 60mph but if i am shifting into 4th or 3rd at 40mph it should be an OK shift shouldn't it. Do i need to double clutch or rev match before i do these kind of shifts. So basically, how do i get as near lift as possible on downshifts without messing up my gears.

try double clutching, or maybe ur not pressing ur foot down the clutch all the way. try doing the process slowly first by pressing the clutch all the way and shift the gear smoothly and slowly to the desired place. dont rush it while shifting. or else try double clutching.
maybe you also need to grease the shift linkage.

Yeah, I'm going to guess that you're not pressing the clutch all the way down. That's common when you've been shifting for a while.

Knowing the path and choosing the path are two different things.
