Went to go get my oil changed, and you know how they always try to sell you shit you don't need and take advantage of you...
Anyways, the guy suggested getting my throttle body. He told me that they would hook up a hose to it, and flush it out with some sort of chemical, and that it would also clean out the headers, and eventually go out the back through the exhaust. $90. Yeah, right. Just gimme my oil change drop out.

Anyways, what do you guys recommend? Just spraying a carb cleaner in there, and sticking something in there to clean it out a little, or is there a better way to clean it more thoroughly?

Well someone told me once that carb cleaner would clean it out nicely, so I'm wondering if that would work, or if there was another way that I could flush out the system and clean it a little in the process.

BTW carb cleaner is a spray used to clean carburetors.

Just take off your intake and open that sucker up for yourself and you'll see if it needs cleaning. If it does, just wipe it off with a damp rag. you might want to get some throttle body cleaner for the holes though

Thanks for the info. I doubt that there is anything we could use to flush the system right?

He said that they would hook a hose up to the throttle body, and force a chemical in the would go through the engine? and eventually make its way out the back through the exhaust.

Toyota does offer a throttle body service where they clean the throttle plate and air idle control valve by removing built up deposists. It costs $79.95. I was thinking about getting it done with my 75,000 mile service, but I think I will do it myself and save some money.

Is there anyway to clean out the exhaust manifolds by sending some kind of aerosol chemical through to break up deposits?
