when i had my headunit put in.. the guy didnt have an adapter so he asked if he could just wire it together and i said it was fine... he did and took the stock amp out..? im planning on getting new component speakers and my stocks sound fine still but didnt know if its good or bad

you should have made him get the adapter. its just a better practice and it will save you a lot of work if you ever decide to get a different head unit. its a shortcut that probably wont afect your sound but is just sloppy.
a kid told me that celicas handle like crap... i laughed

Yea you definitely should of got a harness...it will save you tons of work later on...

not hard at all, just pull out the old speakers and make sure the new ones run on the same size wires as your stock ones, (usually the replacement/upgrade speakers will run the same gauge wire)
By the way the harness adapter would have been 99.9% better idea, i dont know how many times i have had to take out my stero, plus if it ever gets riped off, your going to be doublely riped off...

keep the oem harness part that you cut off, just in case, it would of been better if you just spent the 15 min drive and bought the harness, if someone ever jacks ur HU then ur almost screwed

would it be possible to call in to a dealership and see if i can order a whole new wiring system and have it put in and then just buy the adapter?? or is there anything i can do?

If you by anychance have the original stock harness, i would recommend having that wired back in, then go pick up the aftermarket harness and re-connect the head unit to it.
Knowing the path and choosing the path are two different things.
