I want to work for a dealership as soon as possible because my current job isn't cutting enough dough and sales is so full of crap, plus I work for my uncle and he is full of crap too. Do dealerships usually hier newbies? My school offers a internship program if my auto teacher thinks anyone is ready to do it. He has connections with just about every dealership in houston. Anyone who has had expirence with working at a dealership please give me advice and share your expirence!

yeah dealers hire newbs but you wont be selling cars. you will be washing the cars and taking out the trash in the dealership and maybe a receptionist. something along those lines, its a good way to get your foot in the door

Judging by the Toyota dealers in the New Orleans area, just tell them that youre such a friggin dud that you couldnt pour piss out of a boot even if the instructions were on the heel and they will make you the GM or service manager.

Sorry I should of made myself more specific. I was asking if dealers hired newbie mechanics, not sales reps. Sales reps don't know crap about cars all they care about is money even though sales reps are kinda poor anyways. No offense to any sales reps...

Apparently, you don't need to "know your cars" at the dealership we bought my celi at. They piss me off everytime I go there, b/c they have no idea what im talking about. Its funny though..being a girl and pulling into a dealership, they automatically think your stupid...I love to make them look dumb laughsilly Last time I went there I pulled up, and of course the workers are like vultures, so they come bothering me about my car..one of them asked the year of my car, and then made a comment like "oh I didn't know they made that little hood thing on that year" (meaning the hoodscoop) rolleyes

1. you are only 16
2. wait at least till you are 20--and them some most likely.

not trying to be harsh--but as already stated above almost no one will take your seriously--including dealership management.

noman. i dont think they will hire some young kid for a mechanic. first ull hurt urself, second you need to have a certain degree to be able to work on hte cars. and you wont be able to match the sifts. dealership autoshop closes anytime before 6. maybe you should work at a local shop and learn more. another good work is to work at an enterprise auto care center. they do easy jobs like oil change tune up...

Trust me getting into a Toyota dealership in Houston is very hard. I KNOW you have to have some ASE certifications and you have to know a pretty good deal about cars. Im only ASE certified in one area and they said I need more to get in. and you at least have to be 18.

this is really weird i was about to do this same post because the toyota dealership in my area just moved and i went in there to check it out and there were about 5-6 kids bout my age (17-18) working ther and they seemed understaffed. so i was goin to see if i could get into parts or service. if it all fails then the car detailing. if i get the job then i could be cheap trd stuff yea!
